Simon Says Game
A classic memory game built with vanilla JavaScript.
- HTML
- CSS
- JavaScript
What it is
A web-based implementation of the classic electronic memory game 'Simon Says.' The game generates a sequence of colors that the player must repeat. Each successful round increases the sequence length, testing the player's memory and focus. This project was built using vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to demonstrate core DOM manipulation and event handling skills.
Decisions
- Used vanilla JavaScript for all game logic to focus on fundamental programming concepts like state management, loops, and event listeners without external libraries.
- Implemented CSS animations and timeouts to create visual feedback for the color sequences, enhancing the user experience.
- Designed a clean, intuitive interface with clear visual cues for game state (start, sequence playing, user turn, game over).
Build log
- Structured the game layout with HTML and styled the colored buttons using CSS.
- Wrote the core game loop logic, including sequence generation and level progression.
- Implemented the `flashButton` function to provide visual feedback for the game's sequence.
- Added event listeners to the buttons to capture and validate user input against the generated sequence.
- Included logic for game-over conditions and a restart mechanism.
