Reddit Content Scheduler
Automated Python script for scheduling and posting content to Reddit.
- Python
- PRAW
- schedule
What it is
A Python script designed for content automation on Reddit. It uses the PRAW library to interface with the Reddit API, reading post schedules from a JSON file and publishing them to specified subreddits at configured times. The tool is built for efficiency and simplifies social media management workflows for Reddit.
Decisions
- Utilized the PRAW library for a high-level, intuitive interface with the Reddit API.
- Decoupled post content and scheduling from the core logic by using a `posts.json` file, allowing for easy updates without code changes.
- Integrated the `schedule` library for a simple, human-readable syntax to manage posting times.
- Stored all API credentials and settings in a `config.ini` file to keep sensitive information separate from the application logic.
- Included a `setup.bat` script to streamline the installation process for Windows users.
Build log
- Configured Reddit API credentials and initialized PRAW for authenticated requests.
- Designed the JSON schema for `posts.json` to flexibly handle multiple posts, subreddits, and schedules.
- Implemented the core posting functionality using `praw.subreddit.submit`.
- Integrated the `schedule` library to run the posting task at intervals defined in the config.
- Finalized the project with a `requirements.txt` file and a setup script for ease of use.
