What it is
A client-side web application that fetches and displays real-time weather data from the OpenWeatherMap API. Users can search for a city to get current weather conditions, including temperature, humidity, and a brief description. The interface is built with React and styled using Material UI for a clean and responsive user experience.
Decisions
- Chose React for its component-based architecture, which is ideal for creating a modular UI.
- Utilized Material UI for pre-built components to accelerate development and ensure a consistent, modern design.
- Integrated the OpenWeatherMap API for reliable, real-time weather data.
- Managed application state with React hooks (`useState`, `useEffect`) for simplicity and efficiency.
Build log
- Set up a new React project using the Vite build tool.
- Created the main `WeatherApp` component to hold the application state.
- Built the `SearchBox` component to handle user input and API calls.
- Designed the `InfoBox` component with Material UI cards to display the weather information.
- Implemented error handling for invalid city searches.
